[WordPress News] WordPress 3.1 Released Candidate 2

WordPress team released WordPress 3.1 RC2 (Release Candidate 2) as a New Year present and it is available for download to all users and developers. RC stands for “Rlease Candidate” which means it is an indication that product is ready for final launch. WordPress team is in no mood of celebrating holidays because on Christmas they released WordPress 3.1 RC1 and on before New Year they released a major security update and those who are unable to update to latest version got hacked and many blogs already hacked due to this upgrade.

According to WordPress team changes made in RC1 are:

The security fixes included in WordPress 3.0.4
Fix issues related to handling a static front page
Fixes and enhancements for the pagination buttons
Fix searching for partial usernames
Properly reactivate plugins after editing them
Always show the current author in the author dropdown when editing a post
Fixes for attachment taxonomies
Fix node removal for the admin bar
Fix the custom post type show_in_menu argument
Various fixes for right-to-left languages
and a few dozen more changes

Thinking of giving it a try then download it now but remember that it is not ready to use on live site. You can still use it for testing purposes and if you find some bug, then there are few ways to inform WordPress team:

Post it to the Alpha/Beta area in the support forums
Report it to the wp-testers mailing list
Join the development IRC channel and tell us live at irc.freenode.net #wordpress-dev
File a bug ticket on the WordPress Trac

[WordPress News] WordPress 3.0.4 Released: Important Security Update

Already WordPress 3.0.3 released with security updates and now WordPress 3.0.4 also released as one of the most important security update.

Earlier this week on Christmas WordPress 3.1 RC1 released and now according a official release:

Version 3.0.4 of WordPress, available immediately through the update page in your dashboard or for download here, is a very important update to apply to your site as soon as possible because it fixes a core security bug in our HTML sanitation library, called KSES. I would rate this release as “critical.”
I realize an update during the holidays is no fun, but this one is worth putting down the eggnog for. In the spirit of the holidays, consider helping your friends as well.

So, now its your time to take his advice and upgrade your WordPress blog to recent version.

[WordPress News] Download WordPress 3.1 Release Candidate

WordPress team released WordPress 3.1 RC1 (Release Candidate 1) as a Christmas present and made it available for download to all users and developers. This means that, WordPress 3.1 will be coming pretty soon.

According to official release:

“An RC comes after the beta period and before final release. That means we think we’re done. We currently have no known issues or bugs to squash. But with tens of millions of users, a variety of configurations, and thousands of plugins, it’s possible we’ve missed something. So if you haven’t tested WordPress 3.1 yet, now is the time! Please though, not on your live site unless you’re extra adventurous.”

Well every WordPress user excited to see WordPress 3.1 because it offer a lot of features like easy way to link earlier posts in write panel, new “Admin Bar”, access to new post templates and post styles, Ajax based admin screens.

[WordPress News] WordPress 3.0.3 Released With Security Update

If you are a WordPress user, then it’s time to update your WordPress blog as WordPress 3.0.3 arrived and available for all users. According to WordPress team, it is a security update for all earlier versions of WordPress.

According to official release.

“This release fixes the issues in the remote publishing interface, which under circumstances allowed Author – and contributor – level users to improperly edit, publish, or delete posts. These issues only affect sites that have remote publishing enabled”.

Now its time to update WordPress blog and if you don’t want to update your blog, then make sure you disable the remote publishing feature.

wp-admin/includes/update-core.php

WordPress 3.0.1 Released To Fix 50+ Bugs

WordPress 3.0 thelonious already out there with lots of features and an awesome default theme twenty ten. WordPress 3.0 allows you to enjoy the feature of WordPress Mu into WordPress itself. WordPress 3.0 already hits 11 million downloads and now it’s time to upgrade the WordPress again as WordPress 3.0.1 hits the web to fix the bugs left in WordPress 3.0. WordPress 3.0.1 will address 50+ different bugs, including a privacy issue with trashed posts and Capital P dangit bug (automatically changes small “p” into capital “P” ) which results in lots of broken images.

After a long wait finally WordPress team released an updated version of WordPress 3.0 to fix almost 50+ bugs (as shown in the screenshot).

Now its time to update your WordPress blog again but before updating it make up a backup of your WordPress Blog.
