[Guest Post] Cheap Reseller Web Hosting

November 21, 2011 by Vivek Parmar Leave a Comment

This is a guest post written by Patrick Smith. If you would like to write for WebGuide4U, check out guest posting guidelines here.

Have you thought about making a little extra money on the side? Are you tired of shared web hosting, and hosting 20 sites on one account? Well you won’t have to worry anymore, because the solution for you is called reseller web hosting. Don’t know what a reseller is? Well, a reseller is a person who deals as a middle man that sells cheap web hosting on someone else’s server.

Reseller web hosting is a good alternative to shared hosting, and it can also make you some money on the side. The thing not to forget when buying those cheap web hosting plans is to make sure you aren’t being put on reseller hosting. Being put on reseller hosting is not that bad, it all depends on what server you are put, and how populated it is. Most cheap web hosting companies offer reseller plans that promise “unlimited” disk space and bandwidth. The truth is they think you are only going to use a little bit of it. When your sites actually start gaining traffic, they punish you for using too much system resources. Once again, it all depends on what company you are put on. Some famous resellers like HostGator offer unlimited plans that are OK, and they won’t run with your money, like most people promising unlimited plans do. But they are for sites that are starting off, or get small, to moderate traffic. If you still do not understand it, then think about it this way, there is a pie (the server), you bought a piece of the buy (your reseller), and you divide your piece into smaller pieces (reselling your piece of the in chunks). That is how all these unheard of companies are able to offer you cheap web hosting, because they probably get it for a much cheaper price than they charge you.

Another good thing about reseller web hosting is the neatness, I do not want all my sites on one shared hosting account, it just looks sloppy and hard to manage, and that is why I used to choose a reseller before I bought my own server. However, if you happen to find a friend that wants web hosting and can’t find a good deal, you can offer him or her one, and start making some pocket change. While reselling to others on the side, you can make up enough money to pay off your reseller monthly. Even make more than what you have to pay to spend it on other things, the possibilities are endless. Don’t forget, next time someone offers you cheap web hosting, ask them what it is, or for a test IP so you can run a WHO-IS on it. Overall reseller web hosting is a very good idea, and a very good way to make some pocket change so I highly suggest upgrading from shared to reseller web hosting.

Here are some of the best Reseller Webhosts which offer you cheap and reliable webhosting:

01) Hostgator Reseller Hosting (Discount Coupon: WPHOSTGATOR25OFF)

02) Bluehost

Advantages And Disadvantages of VPS Hosting

June 29, 2010 by Vivek Parmar 1 Comment

Already I have outlined the important information on shared webhosting and dedicated webhosting in earlier articles and now in this post I will outlined all the necessary information needed you to get on VPS (Virtual Private Server) hosting. VPS hosting is a term that is being used to describe multiple domains that are being hosted on the same virtual private servers.

According to Wikipedia,

“A virtual private server (VPS, also referred to as Virtual Dedicated Server or VDS) is a method of splitting a server. Each virtual server can run its own full-fledged operating system, and each server can be independently rebooted”.

Basically VPS hosting is like a shared hosting with few main differences. In shared hosting you will share your resources but in VPS, every user share the same server with many users but each user has a small operation system that can be rebooted and managed independently.

What is VPS hosting?

Virtual Private Server (VPS) technology allows web site owners to share the costs of dedicated web server with other users, but it gives the website owner a total control over his/her own applications installed and run on the web server.

Now one question in your mind, why should I need VPS basically it’s like a shared hosting?

The answer to this question is quite clear and can be given in layman language, if you have a blog/website that have a terrific amount of traffic, data transfer and hosted information, and don’t have enough amount of money to get dedicated hosting service, then VPS hosting will be the best choice/option for you because it provides higher security, more accessibility to your server and to the hosting account. One thing is quite clear from this, is that you will pay only for what you will get, but a caution “choose a reliable web hosting company”. VPS server offers you excellent solution of power, resources, RAM, dedicated control, privacy and security which will you need from a dedicated server at cheaper shared hosting prices. In a nut shell you are basically the boss of your own virtual server.

Like Shared and Dedicated hosting, VPS hosting also have definite advantages and disadvantages. These will be evaluating here which will help you to cover all your business goals, budget, personal style, and target audience in a wider range.

Advantages of VPS Hosting

  • Backup and Restore with 99.9% Uptime.
  • Application templates and Support round the clock.
  • Cheaper than dedicated hosting and preferred choice of small to middle-sized site.
  • Disk Space, RAM and Bandwidth will be your own and will not be shared by any other user.
  • Root Access and Self Administration Management Tools available to install and configure any programs you want.
  • Reliable, Flexible, Completely Isolated and Secure, protected by firewall/Intrusion Prevention appliances.
  • You can host unlimited number of websites and other services like mail server, an FTP server. In addition to it, a dedicated IP address (addresses) will be available and choice of OS (whether Linux or windows).

Disadvantages of VPS Hosting

  • Sharing of the server.
  • Virtualization technology limits the Choice of Applications.
  • Hardware used and Maintenance.
  • Responsibility, Crowding, Price (expensive for small sites.)
  • Too much usage of CPU or RAM (physical memory) of the server will increase the response time of certain requests.
  • If server crashes (might not happen), all the sites on it go down and if any of the sites had lots of traffic, then it might affect all the other sites in a negative way.

Finally in the end do let us know your thoughts and views on VPS web hosting and if I have missed out any of the important aspect then let us know in the comments section? What is Dedicated Web Hosting?

June 5, 2010 by Vivek Parmar 2 Comments

Already in the earlier article I told you about “what is shared Web Hosting” and now in this article I’m going to tell about “what is Dedicated Web Hosting”? Basically dedicated servers are computers that have only one function, i.e., to host and run websites which you place on them.

As the name implies, dedicated hosting is a dedicated web server which means that data of your website is not being shared on the same computer as compared to shared webhosting. In dedicated hosting you are free to do anything and can make custom hardware and software configuration for the server that you will rent.

Dedicated hosting is good for those websites/blogs that have pretty good traffic and becomes one of the good options for your online business which needs some specific requirements. Dedicated hosting is not for single website, it gives you a complete freedom to host multiple websites on the same hardware and with this option you can easily cut down the cost and easily manage all the websites/blogs from a single account which will indirectly help you to concentrate more on other strategies of your business.

Dedicated web hosting provides a great amount of security and privacy as compared to shared hosting and reduces the risk of the attacks which will indirectly help you to gain trust of your client. Dedicated hosting is one of the good options for someone who wants more storage, bandwidth and control over the server.

There are two types of dedicated web hosting are present and they are being mentioned below:

1)  Managed Hosting

2) Unmanaged Hosting

Managed Hosting

Managed Hosting is hosting that is controlled by web hosting company which will provide necessary updates to your software and maintains the hardware on your behalf. The charges for managed hosting are usually high because you are also paying for the services they are providing to you. Most of the times, managed dedicated servers do not comes with root access and sometimes rebooting of the entire machine is necessary when the system crashes or locks up. Some of the web hosts provide free reboots as part of the service while others will provide only a limited number of reboots per month and you have to pay extra for each reboot.

2) Unmanaged Hosting

Well, we not recommend you to go for unmanaged hosting because in this, user is the server administrator and have full control on it, i.e., the root (administrator) password will be given to you and have to manage all the things by yourself and will take unnecessary time as compared to managed hosting which will indirectly affects your online business which we do not want to happen with you. Unfortunately, if there are any security fixes on the web server or the operating system on the computer, you will have to solve them by yourself and if you want to be solved by web host then you have to pay more for it. Of we talk about pricing unmanaged hosting is cheaper as compared to managed hosting.

Like Shared web hosting, dedicated hosting has also had some advantages and disadvantages and they are:

Advantages of Dedicated Web Hosting

  • Unlimited Bandwidth
  • Unlimited Disk Space
  • Unlimited Databases
  • Email Addresses
  • Multiple Domain Names
  • Don’t share the server with other users
  • No need to purchase own equipment
  • No need to update/maintain equipment
  • The serves are Fast, Powerful and very good Uptime
  • Complete Independence which means the user had direct access over the server
  • Dedicated servers provide higher Reliability, increased performance, greater Security
  • Good for large websites that have high traffic
  • Strong software support. The user can install or upgrade any type of support on the server according to his need

Disadvantages of Dedicated Web Hosting

Usually dedicated servers (hosting) has no disadvantage except price other than this they are the recommended ones.

  • Too Costly not recommended for beginners.
  • If any error occurs it takes a lot of time to fix it.
  • Dependence on Web Host Provider
  • If data transfer exceeds, then you have pay for this.
  • Requires a lot of skills, needs a professional to monitor and handle technical difficulties.
  • Server is the property of the service provider.
  • Impossible to change Web Host, even if you are unsatisfied with their services.

If you want a quality dedicated server at an affordable price then search deeply and choose the better one which meets your minimum requirement or you can choose from our top listed web hosting companies which are being listed below:

What is Shared Web Hosting?

June 4, 2010 by Vivek Parmar Leave a Comment

We all that how important is web hosting after having a good domain name and having a good web host will be the first priority. I have already outlined the tips on choosing the best domain name and best web host which will be useful for you before going to decide or switch over to new web host.

Continuing in the same series of post in this article I will talk about Shared Hosting because people who are new to websites and hosting will find it little bit confusing and will not able to configure out the difference between shared web hosting, VPS and Dedicated servers. Will come out with separate articles on VPS and Dedicated Servers in the coming days but this time is for Shared Web Hosting.

Firstly I want to ask one question from all of them what do you mean by Shared Hosting?

Well according to me “Shared Hosting is a system whose resources are being shared by multiple web sites on the same server, same location and on the same ip address”.

Shared Hosting is one of the most popular web hosting plan among bloggers and webmasters because it permits to host more than one web site on the same server and it is fruitful for small websites/new wordpress blogs and also for static websites. Shared hosting normally provides you a web-based control panel system, such as cPanel, Direct Admin, and includes some of the features like file manager, email accounts, webmail, email forwarding and autoresponders, FTP access, password-protected directories, database and much more.

For any new blogger or webmaster I will suggest for shared webhosting because it is good and reliable hosting, which takes cares of your initial web presence and bandwidth needs and most important it is economical which means it doesn’t cost you too much.

Well Shared Web hosting has its own advantages and disadvantages which are being discussed below one by one:

Advantages of Shared Web Hosting

  • Cheap and affordable
  • Convenience and good for small sites
  • Fast Setup and easily customizable
  • Extremely Good Support and Maintenance.
  • Includes features such as ASP, PHP, MySQL, large bandwidth and multiple e-mail address capability.
  • Shared hosting is very cheap in comparison to other hosting plans like Dedicated or VPS.
  • You don’t required high technical capabilities to maintenance the server, each account have a very simple, user friendly admin control panel, where users can easily manage their domains, scripts or databases.

Disadvantages of Shared Hosting

  • Low Security Level
  • Non-dedicated IP
  • Resource limitation – everybody uses the same memory, CPU and Hard drive
  • System Crashes or Server Overload Issues.
  • Performance Issues
  • Risk of Cross Contamination
  • When any user website is draining lots of resources, hosting company tends to suspend such account in order to preserve other websites.
  • One of the disadvantages of Shared hosting is the lack responsibility of the hosting provider that wants to get higher profit neglecting the server capacity and squeeze as many users they can on the same server. This will turn into a big chaos.
  • Other disadvantage is that it is not under the customer control, because they will never know what other sites are doing on their shared server, if the server was undergone to an attack or the IP of the server was blacklisted because of other websites.

As I have sighted out the advantages and disadvantages of the shared hosting which will help you out in choosing the good web host and if you are thinking to buy a shared web hosting you should make a search to get the perfect shared hosting for your website, or you can choose from our top listed hosting companies.
