After installing WordPress, first thing you do is to change the default password generated by WordPress and after changing password you will install plugins and WordPress theme from WordPress dashboard. Some user (or users) interested in making static websites or static homepage but they do not know how to make static homepage with WordPress. This article focus on making static homepage with WordPress.

Step1: Log-in into wp-admin panel, go to “Pages” and click on “Add New” as shown below:

Step2: When you click on “Add New”, it open a new window (shown below). Now fill-up all the details and click on “Publish” button on right hand side.

Step3: Similarly (as guided in step2), create a new page with the the title “Blog”.

Step4: After publishing this page (step2), go to “Settings” tab and click on “Reading” as shown below.

Step5: As soon as you click on “Reading”, it open a new window (shown below). Now select “A static Page”, after it for front page – select “HomePage” and for blog posts – select “Blog”. After doing all the things, click on “Save Changes” button as shown below:

Step6: Congratulations, you have successfully created Static HomePage with WordPress.

[WordPress News] WordPress.com Announced Premium Themes To Its Users

Today Automattic announced that WordPress.com users now able to buy premium WordPress Themes, as before premium themes available for Self-Hosted WordPress blog only. The first two premium themes that will be available on WordPress.com are headlines by Woo Themes and Shelf from Theme Foundary and additional WordPress theme will be rolled out later in this year.

At present 17 million blogs hosted on WordPress.com and premium themes will give these users to buy these premium themes and give their blogs a more professional interface.

These two premium themes available at $45 and $68 respectively and each theme supported by theme shops themselves by using a forum at WordPress.com which is available to only those who buy these themes.

[WordPress News] WordPress 3.1 Release Candidate 3

WordPress team released WordPress 3.1 RC3 (Release Candidate 3) and it is available for download to all users and developers. RC stands for “Release Candidate” which means that product is almost ready for final launch. WordPress team already released WordPress 3.1 Release Candidate 2 after New Year.

According to WordPress team, some of the changes are:

  • Removal of Ajax
  • Properly display the author dropdown in Quick Edit
  • Various important fixes to numerous taxonomy query variables
  • Fixes to the theme deletion process
  • Fixes to pages used for posts
  • IIS and Multisite: Avoid resetting web.config on permalink save
  • Properly validate post formats and their rewrite rules

Thinking of giving it a try then download it now but remember that it is not ready to use on live site. You can still use it for testing purposes and if you find some bug, then there are few ways to inform WordPress team.
