[How-To Guide] Install Thesis WordPress Theme From WordPress Dashboard

Already I offered you a how-to guide on installing new themes in WordPress but didn’t tell you how-to install Thesis theme in WordPress yet. So, in this post I’m offering you a how-to guide on installing Thesis Theme.

Step1: Log-in into wp-admin panel by typing URL:

http://www.domainame.com/wp-admin (replace domainname with your domain)

Step2: In wp-admin panel click on “Appearance” (as numbered by 1) and after it click on “Themes” (as numbered by 2):

Step4: When you click on “Install Themes” (in step3), it will open a new window (as shown below) and click on “upload” button.

Step5: Clicking on “Upload” button open a new window (as shown below). Now browse the theme in your PC (where you have downloaded it). If you haven’t downloaded it yet, download it from here and click on “Install Now” button to install theme.

Step6: Clicking on “Install Now” button open a new window (as shown below) and now click on “Activate” to install the theme in wordpress blog.

Step7: Congratulations, you have successfully installed Thesis Theme.

[How-To Guide] Change cPanel Password In Hostgator

As a blogger/webmaster many times you change password of your account and for security reasons it is recommended that you have a strong password which is not easy to be guessed by anyone. Already in earlier articles I offered you how-to guide on changing default password in WordPress and resetting WordPress password from PHPMyAdmin. In addition to this I also offered you a how-to guide on changing Primary domain in Hostgator and now, in this post I will guide you on changing password of cPanel in Hostgator.

Step1: Log-in into cPanel by typing URL:

http://www.domainname.com/cpanel (replace domainname with your domain name)

Step2: Now in cPanel, go to “Preferences” and click on “Change Password” as shown below:

Step3: When you click on “Change Password” it will open a new window like this (as shown below). For setting-up new password you can use the steps mentioned by Hostgator as seen below:

Step4: Now type your new password in required field and click on “Change your password now”.

One of the easy way to add Adsense code is by using custom_functions.php file. In this post I will guide on adding Adsense into thesis theme.

Step1: Log-in into wp-admin panel by typing URL

http://www.domainname.com/wp-admin (replace “domainname” with your own “domain name”)

Step2: Now in wp-admin panel, click on “Thesis (as mentioned by number 1)” and then “Custom File Editor (as mentioned by number 2)” as shown below:

Step3: Now you have to select “custom_functions.php file” and click on “Edit selected file” (as shown below).

Step4: Now copy this code:

Step5: Now paste this code in “custom_functions.php file” and click on “Big Ass Save Button” as shown below:

Step6: Congratulations, you have successfully added Adsense revenue sharing code in thesis theme.

Remember:

You have to take care of media unit ID.

[How-To Guide] Create Revenue Sharing Website

Already I have offered you WordPress Plugin which allow you to create Revenue Sharing Website/blog. But didn’t tell you how to configure this plugin.

This post focus on configuring Author Advertising Plugin (assuming that you have already installed this plugin) and help you to make your blog revenue sharing.

Step1: Log-in into wp-admin panel by typing URL

http://www.domainname.com/wp-admin

Step2: Go to Settings option and click on “Author Advertising Config” (as shown below):

Step3: After clicking on “Author Advertising Config.”, a new window will open and you will see a message (as shown below):

“CREATE TABLE wp_author_advertising ( id mediumint(9) NOT NULL auto_increment, author_id int(11) NOT NULL default ‘0’, author_advertising text NOT NULL, author_custom1 text, author_custom2 text, PRIMARY KEY (`id`) );”

Step4: To remove this message you have to log-in into PHPMyAdmin and run the SQL query there.

Step4 (a): Log-in into cPanel and click on PHPMyAdmin as shown below:

Step4 (b): Clicking on PHPMyAdmin open a new window where you have run the SQL query as shown in “Author Advertising Config. page (Step3)” (as shown below):

Code you have to copy

“CREATE TABLE wp_author_advertising ( id mediumint(9) NOT NULL auto_increment, author_id int(11) NOT NULL default ‘0’, author_advertising text NOT NULL, author_custom1 text, author_custom2 text, PRIMARY KEY (`id`) );”

Now select SQL from navigation tab and run the SQL query (as shown below):

Step4 (c): If you have done everything as mentioned till now, you will get the confirmation message stating that “SQL query has been executed successfully” (as shown below):

Step5: Now you have to configure “Author Advertising Plugin” to make WordPress blog a revenue sharing blog. With this plugin you can use any advertising program but in my case I’m using Google Adsense.

Step6: Now, I’m showing screen-shot of my settings, you can use these setting as a reference for setting-up your own blog as a revenue-sharing blog.

Step7: Now, this part will be shown to contributor (or the role you assigned to new user) in dashboard and they will use it to enter their Adsense pub id and channel. In custom field one, enter your channel no, which is being use to display your ad (as shown below):

Step8: If you have done everything correctly till now, then you can place this code anywhere on your blog, where you want to display your ad.

Below you can see the 336*280 ad unit, you can change it according to your need. This ad unit, will pull up the pubID and custom cannel ID from the information entered by contributor (or the new user).

Now you are writing a blog post and didn’t want everyone to read that post, only specific member read that post, then this guide help you out in protecting your some posts (only the posts that you didn’t want visible to all, i.e., only certain member can view it).

Step1: Log-in into WordPress Admin panel

Step2: (I’m Assuming that you have already written a post) Open the post (that you don’t want visible publicly).

Step3: Now on right-hand side (as shown below) click on “Edit” option.
